Welcome into my world! Yes, I am a photographer, but I'm also a wife who likes to cook homegrown for my family, a farmer who spends too much time in the fields, a mama to 3 amazing children who keep me tested daily, and a nurse. I have stories to share and here is where you will find them! So grab a coffee and let's hang out a bit!

When is the Best Time to Schedule Your Newborn Session?

There’s something sacred about the newborn days—where time blurs into warm feeds, sleepy sighs, and the smell of heaven on your baby’s forehead. As a photographer who has cradled more swaddled bundles than I can count (and a mama myself), I know how quickly those first days slip by.

So let’s talk timing.

The Sweet Spot: 5 to 14 Days Old

The ideal window for a posed newborn session is between day 5 and day 14 after birth. During this time:

  • Baby is still very sleepy and curled from the womb, making those womb-like poses more comfortable and natural.
  • Feeding rhythms are starting to settle.
  • Skin is usually clearer, with less peeling or baby acne.
  • Flexibility is greater, allowing for cozy wraps and sleepy poses.

What If Baby Arrives Early or Late?

That’s the magic of booking in advance. When you reserve your due date, I pencil you into my calendar and adjust once baby arrives. Whether baby comes early or fashionably late, I hold flexibility just for you.

Booking Timeline: Reserve in Your Second Trimester

If you’re in your second trimester (or even just wrapping up your first), now is the perfect time to reach out. Here’s why:

  • My schedule books out months in advance. While I do have random last minute openings here and there, it is rare and I wouldn’t count on it!
  • It gives us time to plan your session—style, colors, heirloom add-ons, and more.
  • You’ll have one less thing to worry about as baby’s due date approaches.

Lifestyle Newborn Sessions: More Flexibility, Same Tender Moments

If you’re leaning toward an in-home lifestyle session (think snuggles on the couch, nursery details, baby in your arms instead of a basket), these can be done anytime within the first 6 weeks.

They’re perfect for:

  • Families with older siblings
  • C-section recovery timelines
  • Parents wanting a slower, more relaxed pace

Bonus Tip: Maternity + Newborn Bundle

Many of my families book their maternity and newborn sessions together, which guarantees priority scheduling and a cohesive, story-driven gallery—from belly to baby.
